Cedar Key is located one hour southwest of Gainesville, Florida.  An island that retains the feel of "old Florida" it's a haven for artists, writers, birdwatchers and photographers.

Surrounded by water and Mother Nature, the island offers boating, fishing, local seafood, and a laid back atmosphere.  We have no traffic lights and the best way to get around the island is walking, biking or renting a golf cart.

We are noted for our Arts Festival and Seafood Festival, held in April and October.

Boat tours and rentals are available on the island.  Both Second Street and Dock Street have many restaurants, shops and art galleries to browse and enjoy.

Public facilities include marina and ramps, fishing piers, park and beach, library, post office and emergency transport service.

Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve has 3000 acres which includes 12 miles of hiking trails and is great for wildlife watching.

Shell Mound Park is a prehistoric Indian mound and nature trail.  Boat ramp and picnicking is available.

Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge is a 40,000 acre refuge offering nature driving and hiking trails.

Visit the Cedar Key Historical Society Museum where you'll see exhibits, photos, artifacts and interesting literature.

Our Cedar Key Museum State Park has a restored cracker home and you can view local artifacts and shell collections.

Cedar Key is also noted for star gazing with no light pollution.  Bring your telescope or binoculars for spectacular sky viewing.
